A day in the life of...

...Logan, of course!

A typical day for Logan and I is pretty much spent playing, changing, eating, changing, sleeping, changing, eating, changing, eating, playing, and sleeping. Did you catch all that?

These days, Logan wakes up at about 5:30am - a little later if we are lucky.
Depending on the day, we get up with him and whoever is up starts the coffee - STAT. John has been quite the hubby for the last couple months, willingly taking the early morning shift since I'm up with Logan once at night (sometimes more - naughty, I know!).

I get up usually when I hear Logan's hungry cry at about 6:30-7am. Then John takes a little nap before getting ready for work. On a good day, we are on our A-game and get something together for breakfast so we can enjoy some time all together before John leaves for what is usually a long day at the office, the schools, coffee shops for meetings, and evening activities for YL.

After John leaves for work, Logan and I play on the floor and read books. Secretly, I sneak peeks at bits of the TODAY show when Logan is keeping busy. By around 9am, Logan is tuckered out and ready for a nap. The nap could be a dazzling 1.5 hours or a depressing 20 minutes, depending on the day.

Mid-day, Logan and I spend time together trying to get some stuff done around home. He rides along in the Bjorn, which keeps him pretty happy. We check each other out in every mirror we walk by on the way to the laundry room and back! We make lunch and sometimes Daddy comes home for lunch, too! Logan gets to eat some lunch... Then we play on the floor while I fold clothes, write notes, pay bills, etc. Logan just rolls all over the place!!

Watch me....................................................................here I go......................

And I'm over...yep, its THAT easy!

After some busy playtime, Logan gets pretty tired again and its time for another nap around 2pm. Again, no telling how long this glorious stretch of time may last, but I usually pray that today Logan will learn to know the value of sleep! On certain days, I nap with Logan because by this time I'm pretty tuckered out myself and know I have most likely an evening where John will be out for a meeting with kids, committee, parents, or other YL constituent. Gotta keep myself fueled up for these long days!

Around 5pm is bath time - not every day, but most days. Sometimes John is home for the night, most nights he tries to stop home for a little bit to help with a bath or with baby food around this time. Bath time is our favorite time! Logan loves it and John and I love it, too! We extend "happy time" after the bath by going in Logan's warm bedroom and playing on his towel. Hey - a little naked time never hurt anyone! Occasionally (ok, usually) there is an episode with pee flying about the room, mist likely hitting John in the head, neck or face. But, its all worth it because Logan loves it and he laughs like crazy!

Its taken me a while to learn that Logan should eat BEFORE bathing! I'm learning! We're on to sweet potatoes this week and he loves them. We're on the two-a-day cycle. A little at lunch, a little in the evening. I've got to say, Logan still loves his milk...its getting a little tough for Mommy with all those top and bottom teeth, but so far so good.

After eating and bathing, we have story time and a little low key playtime before a final feeding before "sleepy time". Logan's great about going to bed these days. All that sure keeps him tuckered out! Once he's sleeping in his bed, I go check on him frequently...for lots of reasons:
he rolls over like a madman
he falls asleep with his hands grasped around the rails of the crib
he kicks his blankets off
to make sure he's still breathing
to make sure his room is warm enough.
Most of all, I usually cannot believe I have a perfect little son, sleeping so peacefully in my house.
I love to look at him in such a peaceful, quiet, natural state - sleeping like the baby that he is.

I love it. I love everyday. I love my husband John and baby Logan. I love him so much.

Life couldn't be any better.
