Children's Farm Week 2

Since John just left for Colorado with students, I'm on Children's Farm duty this week!  Lucky me!  And, as you can imagine, it means an obscene amount of photos taken.  You're welcome.  ;)  Bennett has been a natural on the farm - he doesn't seem reserved about anything, but rather excited and willing to try everything!

There were big storms, so lots of oak leaves had fallen.  Farmer Nancy asked us to help with clean up by gathering leaves and feeding them to the goats!  This was Bennett's favorite activity of the day!

Goats, of course, have a reputation for eating anything and they we super excited about all the leaves!  We had to hold on tight because they have quite a strong bite!

Bennett loves the cats - he followed this one around for a bit trying to have a chance to pet him.

After the initial meeting, Bennett's first priority was riding Cinnamon again.
"Hi Cinnamon"

He climbed right up with a little help from Keara.

Bennett was a total champ!

"Look at me, mom!"

Of course, we had to find an egg...

but it wasn't easy because those hens were sitting on them!  Never fear, Benny is braver than mommy and he reached right in.  :)

Washing the egg...

Bennett loves all these little chores on the farm and he is so proud when he is done!  I think we should have some of these chores at home.  :)

Love those kitties!

They have grown so big since family day on the farm in May.

Today we got to play in the hayloft!  It was Benny's first time in the hayloft and he loved running around and jumping from hay bales.

In the downstairs of the barn, we ground up some corn for the baby chicks.  It was hard work!

After lots of grinding, Bennett had a cup full for the chicks!

Feeding the chicks!

Taking a water break.  I remember Logan loving the water cooler and little paper cups when he was at the farm.  It was some pretty warm days, so the water cooler was a happenin' place!

Bennett's garden!  He planted beans, lettuce, radishes, corn...with John on the first day of Chidren's Farm in June.  So, now we can see a couple of the plants sprouting up!

After all the rain last night there was some great mud to dig in!

Children's Farm is such a special place.  So glad my kids have gotten to experience it!  Up behind the red barn is Bennett's favorite place:

the zip line and the tire swing!

Bennett could've played on the zip line and tire swing for hours!  Not a lot of kids spend much time up there, so he gets lots of turns!

We gathered for snack time and enjoyed some freshly popped corn!  Since there was some extra time today, we all climbed over a gate and got to play on these wagons.

Two thumbs up from Benny.

Then it was back to the hay bales to sing and close class for the day.

It was a great day at the farm with Bennett!!  Next week is my turn, too, since John will still be away!  Looking forward to it!
