"Bwoo Ba-moon"

Logan got to bring some balloons home from Will's birthday party and he had so much fun playing with them before bed on Saturday night. I just had to take pictures, but really I should have been taking video so you could get the full soundtrack! "Bwoo ba-moons....WHOA.....WOW....WHOA....WOW!" John and I were cracking up just watching. By the way, this is not a pre-bedtime recommended activity. It took a while for Logan to calm down after this episode!

Happy 1st Birthday, Will!

This was quite a week! I spent some time at the doctor running tests - which all came back clear - so baby and I are doing just great! Then Logan mysteriously came down with pink eye. John was super busy at work (especially after having to be off unexpectedly on Wednesday to be with me) and had a YL friend in town helping with some consulting work on growth in our area this weekend. So, we're running a bit ragged, but looking forward to a relaxing day tomorrow (fingers crossed!).

Today we got to attend Will's birthday party! Logan and I take a music class every Thursday with Will and his mom, Kelly. Then we usually go out for lunch with the boys and spend some time hanging out. They are become great friends! I was so glad we got Logan's pink eye under control enough for it not to be contagious anymore because we have been talking about the party ("paaaateeeee") all week! It was so fun to celebrate Will's first birthday and meet some more new friends!

Logan was in love with this spot with all the toys! This little window seat was so much fun that I couldn't even get Logan away to enjoy some yummy lunch!

Of course, I couldn't get both of the boys to look at me at the same time!

Logan also loved Will's lawnmower. It was a little short for him (those long legs!), but he had fun pushing it all around. He knows Kelly pretty well now and he had to show her all the cool gadgets on the lawnmower. Other kids' toys must always be more fun than your own, right?

My friend, Shannon, introduced Kelly and I last summer. This is her little 9 month old girl, Lili rolling around on the floor in her party dress. Logan kept laughing at her when she was rolling around...I think Logan is going to be pretty surprised when he has a new baby living in his house in couple months!

The Birthday Boy!

I had to get a picture of Will's Elmo cake! Kelly made it using a special cake pan and lots of food coloring! It was so cute and all the kids love Elmo, so it was a huge hit!

Such a happy little birthday prince! He wasn't sure what to do with his cake, though he did eventually take a few gobs of frosting!

Shannon with Lili, Kelly with Will, and me with Logan (and the lawnmower he wouldn't let go of!). We don't often all see each other anymore because Shannon works four days a week, so we took the opportunity to get a photo.

Baller

Logan is a totally a future basketball player. He can't get enough! When we're outside, the first thing he notices are the neighbors basketball hoops. He even does an imaginary "dribble" with his hand when he sees a hoop or a ball. Logan got this special gift from Papa after he heard of Logan's obsession with basketball! We've been busy playing for the past few days! You'll notice he's playing with a smaller ball...the bigger ball is too hard for him to toss up, so this will do for now!

Thanks, Papa! This is fun!

What a goof!

Super Sunday

We had a great day today! Logan was up early, so we went to early church, played at the park, threw rocks in the river, and went to a real estate open house we passed by....all before lunch and a nap! When we got home, I needed a little rest, so John and Logan played downstairs and watched a little March Madness while I rested on the couch. At one point, John took these photos of Logan...he sure looks like one tuckered little boy! What a cutie, all snuggled up on the couch! These kind of days are the best, don't you think???

A Boy and his Tent

Logan sure loves his tent. He brings everything in with him and often drags mom and dad (or both!) in with him, too! His favorite is to play hide and seek where we close the tent up with him inside and then he peeks through until we find him. Its so fun! Who knew an inexpensive piece of nylon could be SO MUCH FUN?!

Spring Break!

We already had our big getaway vacation, but this week is spring break for both the high school in the Eau Claire and the University. Pretty much the only difference is that we didn't have Young Life club tonight and John maybe doesn't have as many meetings with leaders, etc. But, nonetheless, it seems like a different week and we're already enjoying the slight change of pace. Logan and I got to meet John for lunch and then spend lots of time outside! Yay for sunshine! It was so great, Logan was sweating running around in his coat, so I just had him keep his hat on. The snow is pretty much all gone (for now...knock on wood!), but the ground is still cold and very wet. So, outdoor play is a little bit limited, but we had a great time with bubbles and sidewalk chalk today! Then we even got a nice long walk in before bath and bedtime tonight. Ahhh...spring!

Here are a few photos I took today:

While I was working on an early dinner, John took Logan for a trek around the back yard and the green space in the backpack!

Logan with two cups! I think he was really wanting to drink from both at the same time! Silly! Just this weekend we upgraded to regular sippy cups instead of the baby cups with the valve. Logan was immediately enamored and is a little big for his britches with his new cups. He always has to have one with him and is definately staying hydrated! Apparently, these are fun to drink out of!

Daddy found a puppy in our bathtub tonight! A really cute one!

So bright...

We have quite the morning routine: Logan wakes up and calls for "Daddy", John gets him from his room and bring him into our bed, as soon as Logan notices me, he wakes me up and says "eat". So, I take Logan to the kitchen for breakfast while John either catches a few more winks or starts to get ready for his day. Logan likes to have the curtains open on the sliding door right next to his booster chair, so he says "Open". Today, he said "too bite" (for "too bright"), so I got out my sunglasses and he happily ate in style! Gosh...little boys are so much fun!

Note to self....

...do not let Logan do this to his sibling!

Hooray!

We were so happy to have a few days of warmer weather this weekend. We took full advantage, spending lots of time outdoors. The only problem is that once Logan is outside, he literally WILL NOT come back indoors. I'm glad that he loves to explore and I know he needs the fresh air and change of scenery, but its heartbreaking to bring him in!

On Sunday afternoon John took Logan out for a while so I could get a few things done inside. After over an hour of being out, they had to come in for dinner and Logan stood at the door, trying to pry it open while sobbing for about 5 minutes before we could get him to calm down and understand that it was time to come in and warm up for dinner. Whew...I have a feeling I better stock up on sunscreen and get ready to spend my spring and summer OUTSIDE!

Hands in his pockets, just like Dad.

Nothing makes Logan happier than being outside!

Beautiful Grace

Today Logan and I got to make a special trip to MN! We didn't have anything planned and I had a few things to take care of, so we thought we would take advantage of it and make a visit! Logan stayed with my mom and got to see Uncle Kyle for lunch and even got to see Papa before we left. I had the chance to visit my good friend Sarah and her new baby girl, Grace Anne, in Minneapolis.

I picked up lunch and her 19 month old son William was napping by the time I arrived. So, we had a quiet visit with lots of time to catch up on our boys and her new little daughter. Selfishly, it was nice not to have Logan along because I got to hold Grace the whole time! She is so tiny and delicate. It made me so excited for our little baby coming in June - and it made me very curious of whether we'll be having a boy or girl! Sarah looked so great and was calm and seemed so rested! I was very curious about the changes she is experiencing as a Mommy-of-two and all that comes with it! I'm so glad to have Sarah as such a good friend and we look forward to all our kids growing up to be good friends, too!

Peaceful little Grace - what a beauty!

Play Hard

Logan has sure been playing hard this week! He has loved all our regular outings to see friends at playgroup, music class, and bible study - he's really beginning to enjoy seeing the kids he knows. He also really loves our time at home (mostly in the afternoons after lunch and nap time) to play downstairs. Logan is a lucky boy with lots of fun toys and he sure keeps busy! His new trick is to climb up on anything he can and jump off. YIKES! I am constantly on the run, making sure he doesn't break his leg. We're trying to teach Logan some boundaries, but its difficult. Especially now that he loves to say "NO" to us...oh boy...I think this ride is just beginning!!

SAHM

Well, it finally happened...I was "let go" from my job as a Barista at Starbucks. Boo hoo. I'm pretty bummed, but have to admit that its not going to make that much of a different since I have only worked a handful of shifts since the start of 2009. But, I always looked forward to work and have been working at Starbucks for 2.5 years! It will be strange to no longer be a "Starbucks Partner". Because I only worked about 4-5 hours a week, I am a pretty easy target for a lay-off and I have to say that I would rather give up my spot than see someone else lose their job who works 20+ hours each week. Plus, John and I knew that once Baby Kumquat arrived, there would be no more Bartisa-ing for me!

So...I guess that makes me a true-blue, full-fledged, no-exceptions Stay-At-Home-Mom (or SAHM as some serious blogger-moms would say!).
