Nana's Visit

Lately we've had lots of visitors! My parents have been over a couple times recently and John's parents were over one day a couple weeks ago. Logan also spent a night at my parents' house last week so John and I could get a few things done at home. Logan is a lucky grandson!

Today my mom made a trip to Eau Claire to see Logan and give him his Easter basket. I usually don't get a lot of photos, but my mom hid some eggs outside for Logan to find, so I had to get a few pictures. While my mom entertained Logan outside this afternoon, I got a few projects done inside the house. With the baby coming in less than two months, I am realizing how much I want/need to get done before then...its a little overwhelming! Of course, Logan loved finding his eggs and the Sesame Street toys inside...I'm sure he will be equally excited to look in his Easter basket from Papa and Nana when we get it out on Sunday! We will be staying in Eau Claire this weekend for a quiet Easter - just the three of us!

We're Silly!

Today was a tough day to keep Logan happy and entertained. I think he was a little over tired from his guest appearance at Young Life on Monday night for "March Madness Club". All in all, it was a good day, but we sure were silly!

Puzzles!

Logan is a puzzle whiz kid. I think puzzles are definitely one of Logan's very favorite past times. He loves the challenge and I can just see him thinking and working to figure the tricky ones. At the library they have a huge stash of puzzles and Logan could spend all day going through them. Here are a couple shots from our library trip on Monday...

Sometimes I will get a bunch out and line them up...Logan just goes down the line, completeing each one! What a good past time!

Snow and Kites

Last weekend was so crazy - we got snow one morning and then by the afternoon, we were out flying Logan's new kite! Of course, we had to bundle up for the outside play, but it was much warmer than when we woke to nearly an inch of snow!

Several kids in the neighborhood have been out flying kites on warm days this spring. Logan is so excited when he sees them flying through the air! So, it was no surprise to me when John came home one day with a kite for Logan! We could hardly wait to get it up in the air...even with the chilly temps.

Flying high! Our neighborhood is seriously ALWAYS windy because its such a plain - perfect for kites!

As you can see, the temps didn't bother Logan one bit! He was bundled up and ready to go! We call this toy the "popper" and Logan loves it so much. Its so simple, but he just can't get enough of it! I'm not sure what the neighbors think, though, when Logan takes it all the way around the block on our walks!

Big Boy Bed!

YES! Logan has slept two nights in his new room and his "big boy bed", as we've been calling it for the last few weeks. Back in March, we did the big switcheroo and moved our bedroom downstairs, which left our old room open for Logan! The baby will take over the nursery after spending at least a few weeks down in our bedroom with us. So, Logan's room has been a work-in-progress, but he's been really getting used to it and he LOVES it! When we say we're going to "Logan's room", he doesn't even motion toward the nursery - he walks right into his new room.

We feel quite accomplished that the first two nights have gone so smooth, but we're not ignoring the fact that it will still probably get difficult to keep him in bed at some point. I will post more picture of is cute new room when everything is hung on the walls (and when its picked up!).

Logan is catching on pretty quick that all his stuff is in his new room! Tonight he thought he should have his potty in his room, too! It was so funny!

Logan's First Egg Hunt

We've really had quite a week at our house! On Wednesday night (only one week after my hospital admission the week before), John sliced off a chunk of his thumb tip while rummaging in his tool box and went to the ER only to find out they couldn't reattach the skin. So, he's all bandaged up on his left hand (his dominant hand) which means he's out of diaper, bath, cooking, and many other duties! Not to mention its a nightmare for him to try to get anything done at work: typing and writing are a little more difficult with his left hand out of commission. Don't they say things come in threes?? Let's hope our next visit to the hospital is on June 5th for the scheduled delivery of our Baby Kumquat!

Today was a great start to the weekend! We got out of the house early to experience Logan's first official Easter Egg Hunt! Our local Festival Foods hosted a fun event for the kids including an egg hunt, cookie decorating, and meeting the Easter Bunny. There was a really huge crowd for the event and I think Logan was a little put off by all the people and crazy kids. But, when we got to the little Toddler Room for the egg hunt, he didn't hesitate and knew what to do! Each child got to find eight eggs and Logan made pretty quick business of it! The video shows Logan finding his eggs (and then finding toys to play with in the grocery nursery).

Baby K Update

John and I went to see my OB this morning and we were please to hear that everything is right on track! Despite our scare last week, my doctor reassured me that everything came back with flying colors and the fluid I lost was nothing but a fluke. He also was sure to emphasize that admitting myself right away was exactly the right thing to do. I've been so blessed to have such healthy pregnancies so far and I'm thankful for everyone's prayers as we wait the next 9 weeks!

My c-section is still scheduled for Friday, June 5th. Sometimes we think we would like to go a little earlier (we could schedule as early as June 2nd), but John will be away for work until May 31, so we're thinking a few extra days with him home leading up to the birth will be helpful.

My belly measures 31 cm, which is right on for being 31 weeks pregnant. However, I always measured correctly with Logan and we all know how that turned out! Dr. Dovre will do an ultrasound about two weeks before delivery just to check on the size of the baby so as to avoid any complications - even in a c-section.

Since having Logan, people always ask me whether I was diabetic during pregnancy because of Logan's size. But, my tests the first time came back completely negative and when I was tested a couple weeks ago for this pregnancy, my tests were also negative. So, that confirms it: we just have big babies!

We've really been trying to get Logan used to the idea that a baby will be in the house soon, but its pretty hard to know if he understands anything about it. He has been really nurturing lately: sharing his drink and snacks with his animals, carrying them around, covering them up for nap time. Its just so cute! I think he will be a great big brother! When we ask Logan if he is getting a brother or a sister, he always replies, "Susser"...so, we'll see!!

I'm still pretty convinced I am having a boy - no particular reason, just an instinct. When I saw my Mom and Dad this week they said I look much different than the last time, and John agreed. I hadn't really noticed, but now I can see that my belly is much lower than it was with Logan. I am still having raging cravings (mostly orange juice and ice cream), terrible heartburn, and a tough time sleeping. Other than that, I really feel GREAT!
