Backing Up

A couple weeks ago, our Dr. said that babies start to actually crawl backwards first, then soon after that, they start to push themselves in a forward motion.

Well, today was the day of backing up!

Logan and I went into the bedroom (a.k.a. the sickie room) to visit Daddy from a distance. Logan was sitting on the floor playing, which soon turned into playing on his tummy, which soon turned into moving in this crazy backward motion! Once he got going, he couldn't get enough of it!

Then he backed himself all the way into the closet doors and had no where else to go, so the fun was sort of over. Bummer. Does this mean we have to start baby proofing the house?! I'm not sure I'm ready for that!

S is for . . .

sick
sleep
snow
. . .
supermom

Well, today I tried to be a Supermom. John woke up very Sick. I think its just a bad cold, but he was definitely out of commission. Luckily, Logan Slept great last night and woke up in a lovely mood!

His cute sleeper is a 12 month sleeper...its long and narrow and fits him like a glove!

Logan is the same size as this Pooh Bear now...for the longest time it dwarfed him, but now Logan can totally dominate.

Yes, Logan was in a good mood. Then he proceded to throw up in his crib right before my very eyes. Ewwww. No more cute sleeper. Meanwhile, John is in agony. So, I got up with Logan, tried to make some warm oatmeal and tea for John to ease his sore throat. At this point, Logan is sitting in his Bumbo and when I turn to look at him, its obvious by the look on his face that he has left me a little present in his pants. Oh joy. Its never good when he's sitting in a restrictive device with no where for the poo to go except up to his ears, basically.

Yep, those sweet potatoes came right on through and pretty much up to his ears is no exaggeration. While I rush him to the changing table, the oatmeal overflows, the tea kettle starts to whistle and Logan pees all over me!

The day did get better. And that was all before 6:30 am! Logan and I took a trip out in the Snow to get some groceries, diapers, and medicines for Daddy. John stayed quarantined to the bedroom while Logan and I went about our day.

Gosh...how does anyone ever have more than one kid?!

Revamp!

Yes, yes...its still us! You have the right page!

Apparently, I've had too much time on my hands tonight while John is at YL Club with a hundred screaming kids! I just got going and decided to change it all. Hope the changes make it easier to read and follow!

Visit often!

Sippy Skippy!

I decided to break down and buy a sippy cup at Target this weekend. I was holding out because there are eleventy million brands and I didn't know which kind to get. But, Jody recommended Gerber. And, she has TWINS, so she knows best. :)

Logan didn't really know what to do and mostly just thought it was a new toy.

I think he got a couple little sips of water and wondered what the heck it was.
Dr. Gilmartin said a little H2O is a.o.k.

Growing up so fast!

Ahhh...the power of those dark brown eyes. I can't ever get over it!

This One's for You, Jenny!

Auntie Jenny goes to St. Ben's (go Bennies...or is it Blazers?! hahaha!)
and she got Logan this uber cute hoodie when he was tiny!

Well, he's been wearing it with his jeans - yes, another pair of jeans! And its so cute!

So, just had to capture this and pass it on...especially to you, Jenn! Love you!

A day in the life of...

...Logan, of course!

A typical day for Logan and I is pretty much spent playing, changing, eating, changing, sleeping, changing, eating, changing, eating, playing, and sleeping. Did you catch all that?

These days, Logan wakes up at about 5:30am - a little later if we are lucky.
Depending on the day, we get up with him and whoever is up starts the coffee - STAT. John has been quite the hubby for the last couple months, willingly taking the early morning shift since I'm up with Logan once at night (sometimes more - naughty, I know!).

I get up usually when I hear Logan's hungry cry at about 6:30-7am. Then John takes a little nap before getting ready for work. On a good day, we are on our A-game and get something together for breakfast so we can enjoy some time all together before John leaves for what is usually a long day at the office, the schools, coffee shops for meetings, and evening activities for YL.

After John leaves for work, Logan and I play on the floor and read books. Secretly, I sneak peeks at bits of the TODAY show when Logan is keeping busy. By around 9am, Logan is tuckered out and ready for a nap. The nap could be a dazzling 1.5 hours or a depressing 20 minutes, depending on the day.

Mid-day, Logan and I spend time together trying to get some stuff done around home. He rides along in the Bjorn, which keeps him pretty happy. We check each other out in every mirror we walk by on the way to the laundry room and back! We make lunch and sometimes Daddy comes home for lunch, too! Logan gets to eat some lunch... Then we play on the floor while I fold clothes, write notes, pay bills, etc. Logan just rolls all over the place!!

Watch me....................................................................here I go......................

And I'm over...yep, its THAT easy!

After some busy playtime, Logan gets pretty tired again and its time for another nap around 2pm. Again, no telling how long this glorious stretch of time may last, but I usually pray that today Logan will learn to know the value of sleep! On certain days, I nap with Logan because by this time I'm pretty tuckered out myself and know I have most likely an evening where John will be out for a meeting with kids, committee, parents, or other YL constituent. Gotta keep myself fueled up for these long days!

Around 5pm is bath time - not every day, but most days. Sometimes John is home for the night, most nights he tries to stop home for a little bit to help with a bath or with baby food around this time. Bath time is our favorite time! Logan loves it and John and I love it, too! We extend "happy time" after the bath by going in Logan's warm bedroom and playing on his towel. Hey - a little naked time never hurt anyone! Occasionally (ok, usually) there is an episode with pee flying about the room, mist likely hitting John in the head, neck or face. But, its all worth it because Logan loves it and he laughs like crazy!

Its taken me a while to learn that Logan should eat BEFORE bathing! I'm learning! We're on to sweet potatoes this week and he loves them. We're on the two-a-day cycle. A little at lunch, a little in the evening. I've got to say, Logan still loves his milk...its getting a little tough for Mommy with all those top and bottom teeth, but so far so good.

After eating and bathing, we have story time and a little low key playtime before a final feeding before "sleepy time". Logan's great about going to bed these days. All that sure keeps him tuckered out! Once he's sleeping in his bed, I go check on him frequently...for lots of reasons:
he rolls over like a madman
he falls asleep with his hands grasped around the rails of the crib
he kicks his blankets off
to make sure he's still breathing
to make sure his room is warm enough.
Most of all, I usually cannot believe I have a perfect little son, sleeping so peacefully in my house.
I love to look at him in such a peaceful, quiet, natural state - sleeping like the baby that he is.

I love it. I love everyday. I love my husband John and baby Logan. I love him so much.

Life couldn't be any better.

Lazy Sunday

We enjoyed a very lazy Sunday yesterday.
John spent the weekend vagabonding to Madison and back for the Eau Claire Memorial hockey games at the State Tournament. So, Logan and I took a trip to stay at the Holbrooks and enjoy some company there. We got to celebrate Amy's birthday and spend some quality time with Papa and Nana. John got to see the Old Abes WIN state for the first time ever! Way to go boys!
Needless to say, we were all pretty tuckered out on Sunday and enjoyed our time napping, watching a movie, and playing outside.
Here I captured Logan in a rare (very rare!) moment of quiet time, catching up with Dad.
Yay for lazy days and YAY for the OLD ABES!
