The house with the bright blue door.

We knew the house needed to be painted and started researching some local painters 18 months ago.  Phew...what a process that was.  This is one of the only projects we've ever had to hire...usually we just diy everything with the help of friends and family.  But, our house is so tall and its just something we knew we couldn't take on ourselves at this point.  And we have A LOT of area to paint: siding, trim, doors, steps, patio, garage and garage trim.  Its a big job.  Finally the painted I had verbally signed on to work with called and they started the day after Labor Day.  We had been waiting since Memorial Day.  That's all I will say about that.  We knew we wanted gray and to keep the shutters black and the trim bright white.

First day

After about a week, then finally started on the back part of the house.

All along with this project there was a lot of stress.  Trying to communicate with the painter or the owner - trying to get the job up to our standards.  I was seriously losing sleep.

In the end, it took over 3 weeks to complete the job.  And we were mostly happy with it.

We decided to get new shutters, so John put those up himself.

And now we are the house with the bright blue door.  :)  Love that door.
