Colorado Springs: Focus on the Family

With just a couple days left, we needed something to do so I drove to the Focus on the Family center where we had heard it was fun for kids to explore.  We checked it out and it was ok.  We don't listen to Adventures in Odessy, so some of it wasn't very relevant for us.  But it was free and fun to get out to do something.

We stopped in the snack shoppe for a treat before heading out.

There was a fun scavenger hunt we completed and the different areas were exactly like the Adventures in Odessy, so if you were into those stories, I think it would be more interesting.

Nothing like giant ice creams for a mid-morning snack!!  Yikes!

Colorado Springs: Fountain

Our first day we went to a pool that was a (long) walk away and it was NOT GOOD.  The kids couldn't use any kind of floaty, it was not very clean, and there was no where to sit.  So...we paid to enter and then stayed just a few minutes.  Luckily, we drove around downtown Colorado Springs a few days later and found this fountain which runs every day starting at noon.  Perfect!  The kids loved it and we visited several times throughout the week to beat the heat!

Eden was a little unsure, unless she held the boys' hands.

Uncle Wilber lifts up out of the fountain and plays music at a quarter to the hour.

We were lucky to have nice says to enjoy the warm sunshine and snacks after splashing around.

Colorado Springs: Cave of the Winds

I booked tickets in advance for a tour at Cave of the Winds.  There is a shorter, family friendly tour we registered for, so we were up early and armed with sweatshirts for the chilly caves.  This little gecko greeted us waaaaay up the mountain at the cave entrance.

Logan especially loved the caves and exploring and learning about some of the history and geology.

The kids did great at the cave tour!  Both Bennett and Eden were a little impatient at times, but it was really smooth!  We were happy to get outside at the end.  The kids got to do some mining for gems and that was really fun.
